Maybank Asset Management Group ("Maybank AM Group")
Dr Hasnita brings in with her 25 years of global financial management experience in the field of asset management, structured finance and asset securitisation, she is also known to be a pioneer and innovator in Islamic finance and has extensive relationships with large investors and key business players particularly from the Gulf countries.
She was the Chief Executive Officer of Guidance Investments Sdn Bhd (an investment arm of Guidance Financial Group, a global investment company) with assets under management of around USD1 billion. In 1998, Dr Hasnita founded IslamiQ, the world's first online Islamic finance portal. She was the Chief Executive Officer of Commerce MGI Sdn Bhd (CMGI), Malaysia from 1994 - 1998.
Dr Hasnita holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Surrey University, PhD in Nuclear Physics from Oxford University and presently an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries, Staple Inn, London.
Highly experienced in the pension fund industry, she has helmed the executive leadership role in Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen (now known as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan) (KWAP) since 1991 and had been instrumental in transforming KWAP into a highly reputable and respectable investment organisation amongst Government Linked Investment Corporations (GLICs). She has also had held senior management positions in various government entities in the field of investment, finance and accounting.
Dato' Azian was previously on the Boards of Malakoff Corporate Berhad and Valuecap Sdn Bhd. She was also the Chairman of i-VCap Management Sdn Bhd prior to her retirement. Apart from Maybank AM Group, her other board memberships include Danajamin Nasional Berhad. In addition, she is the Chairman of Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd. Apart from her directorships, she is also the Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Risk Management Committee for Maybank AM Group.
Dato' Azian obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Economics (Hons) majoring in Accounting from the University of Malaya and a Master in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Dato' Azian also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Harvard University, USA.
He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
He started his career with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co as an auditor from 1974 until 1982. Thereafter, he established his auditing and information technology consultancy firm in 1984. He has also held senior management positions in UEM Group Berhad, KPMG Consulting, Oracle Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd, specialising in information technology and management consulting. At present, he is an independent director of Scicom (MSC) Berhad.
In addition, he is the member of Audit Committee of the Board at MAMG. His other board memberships within the Maybank Group include Maybank Asset Management Singapore Pte Ltd, Maybank International (L) Ltd, Etiqa Insurance Berhad (EIB) and Etiqa Takaful Berhad. He is the Chairman of Audit Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad, the Chairman of Board Oversight Committee Information Technology, a member of the Risk Management Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad and a member of EIB Board Oversight Committee of Proposed Land Development.
Goh holds master of business administration from the Cranfield University, and has held various leadership and management positions in investment banking, regional business development, strategic consultancy, corporate recovery and insolvency, and auditing. He started his professional career with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company (now known as KPMG), and then moved on to consultancy at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Goh later started his foray into the investment banking industry when he was with RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad as a General Manager for Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he assumed the roles as the Managing Director of Corporate Finance with the BNP Paribas Group in Malaysia, and the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Investment Bank Berhad of the Southern Bank Group. He then held positions as executive director in the Chairman’s Office, Strategy and Development, and Market Oversight Divisions during his stint with the Securities Commission Malaysia.
In addition, he is the Chairman of Maybank Private Equity Sdn Bhd and board member of Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd. Apart from his directorships, he is also the Chairman of Risk Management Committee, a member of the Investment Committee and a member of Audit Committee of MAMG. Within other Maybank group of companies, he is also a board member of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad.
Dato' Muzaffar was previously appointed as Group Head, Islamic Banking of Maybank Group and Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad from March 2011 till end June 2016. He has collectively 21 years of experience in the banking and financial services. He started his career with Asian International Merchant Bankers Berhad in the Corporate Banking Division. He later joined Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad and Amanah Short Deposits Berhad where he was involved extensively in corporate debt and financing businesses from debt syndication to advising on private debt securities. Dato' Muzaffar was also involved in various debt and corporate restructuring exercises during the 1997 financial crisis. During his tenure at CIMB Investment Bank and HSBC Amanah, Dato' Muzaffar oversaw the investment banking business. Prior to joining Maybank, Dato' Muzaffar was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of CIMB Insurance Brokers Sdn. Bhd. He received the Asset Triple A Awards 2013, Industry Leadership Award as Islamic Banker of the Year for his contribution to developing Islamic finance regionally and growing Maybank Group's Islamic banking business.
Dato' Muzaffar holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics and Accounting, University of Bristol, United Kingdom and is a Member of H.M. Treasury U.K. Global Islamic Finance and Investment Group; Director of ANFAAL Capital, Saudi Arabia; Member of INCEIF Professional Development Panel; Member of INCEIF Academic Quality Assurance Committee and Chartered Banker of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).
He started his career as a lawyer with Messrs Rashid & Lee. He then joined the Take-overs and Mergers Department of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) when the SC was established in 1993. Thereafter, he joined Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, an investment bank, providing cross-border mergers and acquisitions advice and other corporate advisory services to Malaysian and foreign corporations.
He then set out on his own to provide corporate advisory services. In 2004, he founded Maestro Capital Sdn Bhd, a licensed corporate finance adviser providing corporate finance advisory services primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and fund raising.
Fad'l holds an Honours degree in Law from the University of London and a Masters of Business Administration (Merit) from Imperial College Business School. Fad’l also has a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and is a licensed capital markets services representative.
Fad’l is also a Commissioner for PT Maybank Kim Eng Securities and a director of Maybank Private Equity Sdn Bhd.
He has served as a director on the boards of many companies, amongst others, he was an independent non-executive director of CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad.
He is also currently a director of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club.
Regional Management Team
Azlina has over 17 years of legal and compliance experience in financial institutions and regulatory boards. Her extensive legal experience includes heading the Corporate Affairs Department which consists of the Legal Unit, the Secretarial Unit and Quality Management Unit for RHB Units Trusts. She went on to lead the Legal, Compliance & Secretarial department of ING Funds Berhad and was instrumental in setting up the funds back in 2003. After that, she headed the asset management Group Compliance Department at CIMB Principal and held other key roles such as the Secretariat for the Principal Financial Group’s Risk Management Committee for CIMB-Principal Islamic Asset Management Berhad and also managed the compliance department of subsidiaries in Southeast Asia region within the CIMB Group.
Her regulatory experience began at Securities Commission Malaysia where she had a pivotal role in managing the Authorisation and Licensing Department for securities, derivatives and fund management including venture capital management corporation and all other regulated activities. Her role also included assessing licensing applications, monitoring of compliance with licensing requirements as well as formulation and implementation of new policies to enhance the efficiency and competitive edge of the Malaysian capital market. At CTOS, Malaysia's leading Credit Reporting Agency, she headed the legal, regulatory and compliance audit team where she manages the main regulators such as Registrar of Credit Reporting Agencies under the Ministry of Finance, Bank Negara Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia and Commissioner of Personal Data Protection Act.
She holds a LLB (Hons) degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1997.
He holds a BA in Business Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and is currently pursuing the professional stage qualification with The Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA).
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Mathematics and received her Masters of Applied Statistics in 2008 from University Malaya.
She holds a Diploma in Accountancy from University Technology Mara and a Degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of East London, UK.
He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
He was also involved in the IslamiQ advisory team that completed the Shariah structuring of a US$150 million Islamic private equity fund focusing on dynamic and undervalued Asian companies. After leaving IslamiQ, he moved to Guidance Financial Group LLC, an international Islamic financial services company based in Washington D.C. where he was part of the investment team that structured a Musharakah Mutanaqisah based Islamic home financing program for consumers in the U.S market, an innovative mortgage based Islamic Fixed Income security with Freddie Mac and a Pan European Islamic Real Estate fund with ING International amongst others. During his employment with Guidance, he was also seconded to Navis Capital Partners a leading private equity fund management firm to assist in the day to day running of their Islamic private equity funds with an aggregate value of USD 300 million. His last posting before joining Maybank Asset Management Group was with the Amanie Group where he served as Managing Director of Amanie Advisors, its global Shariah advisory arm and also as Director of Global Business with Amanie Holdings reporting directly to the Chairman.
Regional Investment Team
Robin has more than 15 years of investment experience in Asian Equities. He started out as a sell-side analyst and has experience managing both traditional long only and alternative funds. Prior to Maybank, Robin was with Pengana Capital, the Hedge Fund arm of National Australia Bank where he was an Executive Director/co-manager at the award winning Pengana Asia Special Events hedge fund. He was also the lead equity portfolio manager at Asia Genesis Asset Management and Senior Portfolio Manager at Pacific Mutual, a member of the OCBC group.
Robin was a British Chevening scholar at the University of Nottingham, UK where he graduated with a MSc in Economics. He is a CFA charterholder and also graduated with a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, UK.
Judy is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has had 18 years of investment experience. Judy started managing Singapore bonds and Asian Asset Backed portfolios in 2002, followed by Asian USD credit in 2005 and Asian local currency credit from 2009. Prior to a career in fixed income portfolio management, Judy was working as an equity analyst and a structured credit analyst. Her previous employers included BNP Paribas Investment Partners, FFTW, and Deutsche Bank AG.
Judy graduated with a Distinction in MBA Finance from CASS Business School in London (1996). She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.
Rachana is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has over 23 years of experience managing Asian government and corporate bonds and foreign exchange. Rachana spent nine years at Cargill Singapore where she was Head of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rates. Prior to Maybank Asset Management, she was Head of Asia and Emerging Markets Fixed Income at DBS Asset Management.
Rachana graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science with a Masters in Management Studies (Finance). She holds an MBA (with distinction) from University of South Carolina, Columbia and is a CFA charterholder.
She graduated with Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a CFA charterholder.
