Dr Hasnita Dato' Hashim
 
Chairman
Dr. Hasnita Dato’ Hashim was appointed as the Chairman of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad and Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd on 14 May 2022. She also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank, a member of the Risk Management Committee, Audit Committee, Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Compliance Committee of the Board and Board Sustainability Committee.

She holds a PhD in Nuclear Physics from Oxford University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Surrey University. She brings 25 years of global financial management experience in the field of asset management, structured finance and asset securitisation. She is also known to be a pioneer and innovator in Islamic finance and has extensive relationships with large investors and key business players particularly from the Gulf countries. In 1998, she founded IslamiQ, the world’s first online Islamic finance portal and was the Chief Executive Officer of IslamiQ from 1998 to 2001..

Within the Maybank Group, she is currently the Chairman of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank Kim Eng Holdings Limited. Besides Maybank Group, Dr Hasnita is a director of Guidance Investments (Labuan) Ltd, Guidance Atel Investments Ltd, Guidance ATEL GCC Investments Ltd and REDACHEM Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Dr. Hasnita has been appointed as Chairman of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) with effect from 1 October 2018 and as a member of the National Economic Action Council on 11 February 2019. Currently, she is also a director of Guidance Investments (Labuan) Ltd, Guidance Atel Investments Ltd, Guidance ATEL GCC Investments Ltd and REDACHEM Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Dr. Hasnita was the Chairman of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) from 1 October 2018 to 18 March 2020 and also a member of the National Economic Action Council from February 2019 to March 2020. She was also the Chief Executive Officer of Commerce MGI Sdn Bhd (CMGI), Malaysia from 1994 to 1998. She served as Head, Institutional Business of Guidance Financial Group from 2002 to 2011. She was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Guidance Investments Sdn Bhd, an investment arm of Guidance Financial Group and a global investment company with asset under management of around USD1 billion, from May 2012 to December 2016. Dr. Hasnita was also a director of Guidance SEARE Advisors GP Limited.

Goh Ching Yin
 
Director
Goh Ching Yin was appointed as the Chairman of Maybank Asset Management Singapore on 1 January 2021 and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad on 1 January 2017.

Goh holds master of business administration from the Cranfield University, and has held various leadership and management positions in investment banking, regional business development, strategic consultancy, corporate recovery and insolvency, and auditing. He started his professional career with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company (now known as KPMG), and then moved on to consultancy at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Goh later started his foray into the investment banking industry when he was with RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad as a General Manager for Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he assumed the roles as the Managing Director of Corporate Finance with the BNP Paribas Group in Malaysia, and the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Investment Bank Berhad of the Southern Bank Group. He then held positions as executive director in the Chairman’s Office, Strategy and Development, and Market Oversight Divisions during his stint with the Securities Commission Malaysia.

Apart from his directorships, he is also the board member of Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Chairman of the Audit Committee of MAMG. Within other Maybank group of companies, he is also a board member of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad.

Dato' Muzaffar Hisham
 
Director
Dato' Muzaffar Hisham was appointed as Group Head, Global Banking of Maybank Group since 1 July 2016 with focus on strengthening and entrenching Global Banking's business in Maybank Group's key regional markets such as Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Greater China and Indochina.

Dato' Muzaffar was previously appointed as Group Head, Islamic Banking of Maybank Group and Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad from March 2011 till end June 2016. He has collectively 21 years of experience in the banking and financial services. He started his career with Asian International Merchant Bankers Berhad in the Corporate Banking Division. He later joined Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad and Amanah Short Deposits Berhad where he was involved extensively in corporate debt and financing businesses from debt syndication to advising on private debt securities. Dato' Muzaffar was also involved in various debt and corporate restructuring exercises during the 1997 financial crisis. During his tenure at CIMB Investment Bank and HSBC Amanah, Dato' Muzaffar oversaw the investment banking business. Prior to joining Maybank, Dato' Muzaffar was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of CIMB Insurance Brokers Sdn. Bhd. He received the Asset Triple A Awards 2013, Industry Leadership Award as Islamic Banker of the Year for his contribution to developing Islamic finance regionally and growing Maybank Group's Islamic banking business.

Dato' Muzaffar holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics and Accounting, University of Bristol, United Kingdom and is a Member of H.M. Treasury U.K. Global Islamic Finance and Investment Group; Director of ANFAAL Capital, Saudi Arabia; Member of INCEIF Professional Development Panel; Member of INCEIF Academic Quality Assurance Committee and Chartered Banker of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).

Mohd Irwan Bin Ahmad Mustafa
 
Director
Mohd Irwan bin Ahmad Mustafa was appointed as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Group Bhd on 24 July 2018.

He is the Senior Vice President of Private Investments & Special Projects of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). He is responsible for developing a new Private Investment Framework for PNB in 2017 and managing all private equity investments in PNB domestically and globally.

Prior to joining PNB, he was with Ekuiti Nasional Berhad as a Director Investment from December 2011 to July 2017. In Ekuinas, he was responsible for sourcing and managing investments in Education, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Retail. He also served as Vice President, Business Development at Integrax Berhad, Halim Rasip Holdings Sdn. Bhd. from December 2009 to November 2011 where he was responsible for managing business developments and investments in shipping in logistics in Malaysia and Indonesia. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Kuala Lumpur in Assurance services in March 2004 and later moved to Advisory services in Corporate Finance in April 2006 to November 2009. His experience includes private equity, strategy, mergers & acquisitions, valuations, portfolio management and investment management.

Mohd Irwan is a certified Chartered Accountant from Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and holds degrees in Master of Finance and Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University.

In addition, he is the Director for Velesto Energy Berhad and Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).

Shirley Goh
 
Director
Shirley Goh was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad and Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd on 14 May 2022. She also serves as a Chairman of Investment Committee of Maybank Asset Manegement Sdn Bhd, an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank, a member of the Credit Review Committee of the Board.

She is a member of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Shirley Goh retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia in June 2020 having worked with PwC for 41 years, of which 24 years were as a Partner. During her time in PwC, she was a long serving member of the Assurance Executive Team and was elected by the Partners to the Oversight Board in 2016 which she chaired for 4 years prior to her retirement in June 2020.

She has over 40 years of experience in audit and had provided business advisory services to a diverse range of clients, including local enterprises and conglomerates as well as multinational companies in financial services, healthcare, property development, poultry farming, retail, services etc. Apart from this, she also has a myriad of experience advising on local and cross-border Merger & Acquisition transactions at all stages of integration. She has also worked with clients with overseas operations such as in China, India, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Currently, Shirley Goh also sits on the Board of UEM Edgenta Berhad.

Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil
 
Director
Kamarul Ariffin was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad on 10 April 2023. He also serves as the Chairman and the Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Islamic Asset Management (MIAM).

He is a member of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers with more than 17 years of experience in the banking industry in various capacity culminating in his last appointment as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Affin Bank Berhad. He is currently holding the position of Chairman of Fullrich Malaysia Sdn Bhd, an E-Wallet company operating under the E-Money licence of Bank Negara Malaysia. He is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Marine & General Berhad and the Chairman of Revenue Monster Sdn Bhd.

Kamarul’s prior experience includes the oil and gas industry where he served in both the downstream business in Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd as well as the upstream business in Trenergy Malaysia Berhad. He also spent five years in Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad, the National Asset Management Company.

Kamarul is a graduate of University of Cambridge where he studied Economics.

Badrul Hisyam Abu Bakar
 
Officer-in-Charge
Badrul Hisyam Abu Bakar is currently the Officer-in-Charge since 1 December 2022. He is also the Regional Head, Investment Management of Maybank Kim Eng Group effective 1 March 2021. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Asset Management Group from 25 April 2018. He is also a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Singapore, which he was appointed to on 1 April 2020.

Badrul has over 23 years of experience in numerous asset management companies such as HLG Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Commerce Asset Fund Managers Sdn Bhd, Avenue Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Tune Money Capital Sdn Bhd and BIMB Investment Management Berhad. His experience covers both traditional and shariah/ethical mandates and he has worked on both sides of the business - retail and institutional. At CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd, he was heavily engaged in the restructuring and rehabilitating of portfolios. Prior to joining Maybank AM, he was the Chief Investment Officer of BIMB Investment Management Berhad.

He graduated from New York University, USA with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Finance and Economics in 1996

Massinissa Halim Ibrahim
 
Chief Risk Officer
Massi has close to 15 years of experience in risk management, trading and investment banking advisory, and & started his career in the U.S. as a risk manager for PNC Financial Services.

Prior to joining Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad, Massi spent over a decade in front office roles in New York, as a trader for Nomura Securities and as a senior banker for an emerging markets-dedicated boutique investment bank. He has also been heading the Market Risk Analytics and Policy team for Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank Kim Eng since December 2019.

Massi graduated from Dauphine University (Paris) with a BSc in Economics and Finance, from Brandeis University (Boston area) with a MA in Economics and Finance, and holds an MBA from INSEAD (Paris/Singapore). He also completed the three levels of the CFA examination.

Wan Maizuni Wan Mohamad
 
Head of Corporate Services
Wan Maizuni has over 25 years of experience and started as an Organisations & Methods Executive at UMBC Securities Sdn Bhd in 1996. She then joined RHB Asset Management Sdn Bhd as a Compliance Officer. In 2003, she moved to Amanah Raya Berhad to help in the setting up of Amanah Raya Asset Management Sdn Bhd. She joined the Compliance Department of Mayban Investment Management Sdn Bhd (now known as Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd) in 2005. She moved to Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad in 2013 and assumed the role of the Company Secretary for all MAMG local entities. 

She holds a Diploma in Accountancy from University Technology Mara and a Degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of East London, UK. She is a licensed secretary under the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

Farhan Nor Diyana Samsudin
 
Chief Compliance Officer

Farhan Nor Diyana Samsudin was appointed as the Chief Compliance Officer of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad on 1 November 2022, in addition to her current role as Chief Compliance Officer of Maybank Investment Banking Group.

Farhan has over 10 years’ experience in compliance, legal and human capital. She also has excellent exposure to key areas of compliance globally. She began her career as a corporate lawyer at a leading law firm in Malaysia before joining Maybank in 2011, and has held roles in Group Compliance and Maybank overseas operation such as United Kingdom and United States of America.

Farhan has been involved in several of Maybank Group’s major regulatory projects, such as US Dodd-Frank Act, Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since she took over compliance portfolio in June 2021, she initiated Compliance Transformation Plan towards achieving standardisation of compliance practices for 14 operating entities under MIBG and MAMG.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from International Islamic University Malaysia and a Master of Laws (LLM) from University of Reading, United Kingdom.

Mavis Chor Yit Wah
 
Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Department
Mavis has over than 10 years of experience in legal, risk and compliance in the fund management and financial industry. She started her career as a paralegal with an established law firm in Kuala Lumpur. She joined Pacific Mutual Fund Bhd in 2007. After that, she headed and managed the Legal and Compliance department of an asset management company. In 2010, she rejoined Pacific Mutual Fund Bhd to head the Legal, Risk & Compliance department. Subsequently, she joined Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad to head the Risk and Compliance department.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from University of the West of England, Bristol.

Robin Yeoh
 
Regional Chief Investment Officer

 

Robin has more than 20 years of investment experience and has been with Maybank for the past 8 years where he formulates investment strategy and asset allocation. He has had experience managing traditional long only funds as well hedge funds.

Prior to Maybank, Robin was with Pengana Capital, a leading Alternative Investment Manager in Australia, where he was an Executive Director as well as co-manager at the award winning Pengana Asia Special Events hedge fund, which received various awards from Eurekahedge, and World Finance. Robin started out in equity research and has been a member of ranked research teams at CLSA and RHB Research Institute.

Robin was a British Chevening scholar at the University of Nottingham, UK where he graduated with a MSc in Economics. He is a CFA charterholder and also graduated with a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, UK.

Judy Leong
 
Co-Head of Regional Fixed Income

Judy is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has had 20 years of investment experience. Judy started managing Singapore bonds and Asian Asset Backed portfolios in 2002, followed by Asian USD credit in 2005 and Asian local currency credit from 2009. Prior to a career in fixed income portfolio management, Judy was working as an equity analyst and a structured credit analyst. Her previous employers included BNP Paribas Investment Partners, FFTW, and Deutsche Bank AG.

Judy graduated with a Distinction in MBA Finance from CASS Business School in London (1996). She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.

Rachana Mehta
 
Co-Head of Regional Fixed Income

Rachana, as the Regional Co-Head of Fixed Income, is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has over 25 years of experience managing Asian government and corporate bonds and foreign exchange. Rachana spent 9 years at Cargill Singapore where she was Head of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rates. Most recently, she was Head of Asia and Emerging Markets Fixed Income at DBS Asset Management. 

Rachana graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science with a Masters in Management Studies (Finance). She holds an MBA (with distinction) from University of South Carolina, Columbia and is a CFA charterholder.

Koh Huat Soon
 
Regional Head of Research
Huat Soon was appointed as Regional Head of Research at Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd on 17th January 2022, where he manages a team with the goal of identifying and recommending profitable regional investment ideas and stocks to the investment team. Huat Soon was previously the Head of Research for Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad. With 30 years of working experience in the field of equity research and investments, he started his investment banking career as sell-side equity analyst with a number of research offices that included CLSA, RHB Research and SocGen. This was followed by a career in fund management, where he became Chief Investment Officer at Pacific Mutual Fund Berhad.

He holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University, England and an MBA degree from Melbourne University, Australia. He obtained his CFA charter in 2001.
