Maybank Asset Management Group ("Maybank AM Group")
Dr Hasnita brings in with her 25 years of global financial management experience in the field of asset management, structured finance and asset securitisation, she is also known to be a pioneer and innovator in Islamic finance and has extensive relationships with large investors and key business players particularly from the Gulf countries.
She was the Chief Executive Officer of Guidance Investments Sdn Bhd (an investment arm of Guidance Financial Group, a global investment company) with assets under management of around USD1 billion. In 1998, Dr Hasnita founded IslamiQ, the world's first online Islamic finance portal. She was the Chief Executive Officer of Commerce MGI Sdn Bhd (CMGI), Malaysia from 1994 - 1998.
Dr Hasnita holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Surrey University, PhD in Nuclear Physics from Oxford University and presently an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries, Staple Inn, London.
He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
He started his career with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co as an auditor from 1974 until 1982. Thereafter, he established his auditing and information technology consultancy firm in 1984. He has held senior management positions in UEM Group Berhad, KPMG Consulting, Oracle Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd, specialising in information technology and management consulting. He was also formerly an independent director of Scicom (MSC) Berhad.
In addition, he is the member of Audit Committee of the Board at MAMG. His other board memberships within the Maybank Group include Maybank Asset Management Singapore Pte Ltd, Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad and Etiqa General Insurance Berhad (EGIB) (formerly known as Etiqa Insurance Berhad). He is the Chairman of Audit Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad, the Chairman of Board Oversight Committee Information Technology, a member of the Risk Management Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad and a member of EGIB Board Oversight Committee of Proposed Land Development.
Goh holds master of business administration from the Cranfield University, and has held various leadership and management positions in investment banking, regional business development, strategic consultancy, corporate recovery and insolvency, and auditing. He started his professional career with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company (now known as KPMG), and then moved on to consultancy at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Goh later started his foray into the investment banking industry when he was with RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad as a General Manager for Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he assumed the roles as the Managing Director of Corporate Finance with the BNP Paribas Group in Malaysia, and the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Investment Bank Berhad of the Southern Bank Group. He then held positions as executive director in the Chairman’s Office, Strategy and Development, and Market Oversight Divisions during his stint with the Securities Commission Malaysia.
In addition, he is the Chairman of Maybank Private Equity Sdn Bhd and board member of Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd. Apart from his directorships, he is also the Chairman of Risk Management Committee, a member of the Investment Committee and a member of Audit Committee of MAMG. Within other Maybank group of companies, he is also a board member of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad.
Dato' Muzaffar was previously appointed as Group Head, Islamic Banking of Maybank Group and Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad from March 2011 till end June 2016. He has collectively 21 years of experience in the banking and financial services. He started his career with Asian International Merchant Bankers Berhad in the Corporate Banking Division. He later joined Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad and Amanah Short Deposits Berhad where he was involved extensively in corporate debt and financing businesses from debt syndication to advising on private debt securities. Dato' Muzaffar was also involved in various debt and corporate restructuring exercises during the 1997 financial crisis. During his tenure at CIMB Investment Bank and HSBC Amanah, Dato' Muzaffar oversaw the investment banking business. Prior to joining Maybank, Dato' Muzaffar was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of CIMB Insurance Brokers Sdn. Bhd. He received the Asset Triple A Awards 2013, Industry Leadership Award as Islamic Banker of the Year for his contribution to developing Islamic finance regionally and growing Maybank Group's Islamic banking business.
Dato' Muzaffar holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics and Accounting, University of Bristol, United Kingdom and is a Member of H.M. Treasury U.K. Global Islamic Finance and Investment Group; Director of ANFAAL Capital, Saudi Arabia; Member of INCEIF Professional Development Panel; Member of INCEIF Academic Quality Assurance Committee and Chartered Banker of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).
He is the Senior Vice President of Private Investments & Special Projects of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). He is responsible in developing new Private Investment Framework for PNB in 2017 and managing all private equity investments in PNB domestically and globally.
Prior to joining PNB, he was with Ekuiti Nasional Berhad as a Director Investment from December 2011 to July 2017. In Ekuinas, he was responsible in sourcing and managing investments in Education, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Retail. He also served as Vice President, Business Development at Integrax Berhad, Halim Rasip Holdings Sdn. Bhd. from December 2009 to November 2011 where he was responsible in managing business developments and investments in shipping in logistics in Malaysia and Indonesia. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Kuala Lumpur in Assurance services in March 2004 and later moved to Advisory services in Corporate Finance in April 2006 to November 2009. His experience include private equity, strategy, mergers & acquisitions, valuations, portfolio management and investment management.
Mohd Irwan is a certified Chartered Accountant from Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, and holds degrees in Master of Finance and Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University.
In addition, he is the Director for Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) and Enco Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Badrul was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd and has over 20 years of experience in numerous asset management companies such as HLG Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Commerce Asset Fund Managers Sdn Bhd, Avenue Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Tune Money Capital Sdn Bhd and BIMB Investment Management Berhad. His experience covers both traditional and shariah/ethical mandates and he has worked on both sides of the business - retail and institutional. At CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd, he was heavily engaged in the restructuring and rehabilitating of portfolios. Prior to joining Maybank AM, he was the Chief Investment Officer of BIMB Investment Management Berhad.
He graduated cum laude from New York University, USA with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Finance and Economics in 1996. He is the holder of the Capital Markets & Services Representative's License (CMSRL) issued by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) under the Capital Market & Services Act 2007.
Azlina has over 17 years of legal and compliance experience in financial institutions and regulatory boards. Her extensive legal experience includes heading the Corporate Affairs Department which consists of the Legal Unit, the Secretarial Unit and Quality Management Unit for RHB Units Trusts. She went on to lead the Legal, Compliance & Secretarial department of ING Funds Berhad and was instrumental in setting up the funds back in 2003. After that, she headed the asset management Group Compliance Department at CIMB Principal and held other key roles such as the Secretariat for the Principal Financial Group’s Risk Management Committee for CIMB-Principal Islamic Asset Management Berhad and also managed the compliance department of subsidiaries in Southeast Asia region within the CIMB Group.
Her regulatory experience began at Securities Commission Malaysia where she had a pivotal role in managing the Authorisation and Licensing Department for securities, derivatives and fund management including venture capital management corporation and all other regulated activities. Her role also included assessing licensing applications, monitoring of compliance with licensing requirements as well as formulation and implementation of new policies to enhance the efficiency and competitive edge of the Malaysian capital market. At CTOS, Malaysia's leading Credit Reporting Agency, she headed the legal, regulatory and compliance audit team where she manages the main regulators such as Registrar of Credit Reporting Agencies under the Ministry of Finance, Bank Negara Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia and Commissioner of Personal Data Protection Act.
She holds a LLB (Hons) degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1997.
Azrir has over 17 years of career experience in assurance services and corporate finance. He started his career at KPMG Malaysia as an audit assistant whereby he rose to become an audit manager and was seconded to KPMG Leeds, United Kingdom for 19 months.
Prior to joining Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad, he was working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 8 years in various Saudi based investment companies. His last position was the Head of Operation in charge of the Finance Department in a Saudi Capital Market Authority regulated entity.
Azrir is a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and a graduate of the University of Auckland, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Commerce, double major in Accounting and Information System. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Finance from the same university.
Prior to joining Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad, he was the Vice President at Khazanah Nasional Berhad where he spent 8 years in the Risk Management Unit overseeing the implementation of governance and risk management framework for Khazanah and its Regional Offices.
Hafiz is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a graduate of Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom with a BSc in Applied Accounting.
She holds a Diploma in Accountancy from University Technology Mara and a Degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of East London, UK. She is a licensed secretary under the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
Robin has about 20 years of investment experience. He started out as a sell-side analyst and has experience managing both traditional long only and alternative funds. Prior to Maybank, Robin was with Pengana Capital, the Hedge Fund arm of National Australia Bank where he was an Executive Director/co-manager at the award winning Pengana Asia Special Events hedge fund. He was also the lead equity portfolio manager at Asia Genesis Asset Management and Senior Portfolio Manager at Pacific Mutual, a member of the OCBC group.
Robin was a British Chevening scholar at the University of Nottingham, UK where he graduated with a MSc in Economics. He is a CFA charterholder and also graduated with a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, UK.
Judy is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has had 19 years of investment experience. Judy started managing Singapore bonds and Asian Asset Backed portfolios in 2002, followed by Asian USD credit in 2005 and Asian local currency credit from 2009. Prior to a career in fixed income portfolio management, Judy was working as an equity analyst and a structured credit analyst. Her previous employers included BNP Paribas Investment Partners, FFTW, and Deutsche Bank AG.
Judy graduated with a Distinction in MBA Finance from CASS Business School in London (1996). She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.
Rachana, as the Regional Co-Head of Fixed Income, is responsible for all Asia local and hard currency fixed income investments, including Islamic Sukuk at Maybank Asset Management. She has over 24 years of experience managing Asian government and corporate bonds and foreign exchange. Rachana spent 9 years at Cargill Singapore where she was Head of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rates. Most recently, she was Head of Asia and Emerging Markets Fixed Income at DBS Asset Management.
Rachana graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science with a Masters in Management Studies (Finance). She holds an MBA (with distinction) from University of South Carolina, Columbia and is a CFA charterholder.
She graduated with Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a CFA charterholder.
