Roni Lihawa Abdul Wahab
 
Chairman

 
Roni L. Abdul Wahab was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad on 2 November 2020. He also serves as a member of the Risk Management Committee, Chairman of Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. and Chairman of the Investment Committee of MAMG.

Roni has over 23 years of experience and held senior leadership roles in the banking, investment management and corporate sectors. His last appointment was as Executive Director, Investments at Khazanah Nasional Berhad. Prior to that, he was in the banking industry as Managing Director and Country Head of Global Banking, HSBC Bank Berhad, overseeing corporate and investment banking as well as at Credit Suisse where he served as Head of Investment Banking Coverage for Malaysia. He started his banking career with Capstar Partners and J.P. Morgan in New York, USA.

Roni graduated from the Wharton School, the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Actuarial Science and Corporate Finance.

Ahmed Muzni Mohamed
 
Director

Muzni was appointed as Executive Director of Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd (MIAM) on 1 June 2019 and has over 26 years of experience where he started his career as an Investment Analyst at Nikko Securities Co. Ltd in Tokyo, Japan before he became the Chief Analyst for its subsidiary in Malaysia. He was previously the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at Pelaburan Johor Berhad for more than 6 years.

Prior to joining MIAM, he was the Executive Vice President of Capital Markets in Siraj Capital before he joined Anfaal Capital Company, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as the Chief Executive Officer where he also served for over 6 years.

Dato’ Rafique Merican
 
Director

Dato’ Rafique is Maybank Islamic Berhad and Group Head of Islamic Banking since 1 July 2016. He joined Maybank Group in 2012 as its Group Chief Financial Officer and is also a member of the Maybank Group Executive Committee. He has more than 25 years of experience in the corporate sector, including five years as Chief Financial Officer of Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Malakoff Berhad. Prior to that, he served at Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd, a facilities management concessionaire for hospitals in Malaysia as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. He also worked with Amanah Capital Group and Bumiputera Merchant Bankers Berhad in corporate finance and advisory roles. His recent appointments include Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Takaful Berhad and Member of Etiqa Insurance Berhad Investment Committee. Dato’ Rafique was also the President Commissionaire of PT Bank Maybank Syariah Indonesia from 2013-2016.

Dato' Rafique is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK; Chartered Accountant, Malaysian Institute of Accountants and underwent the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board; Malaysia Advisory Committee of ACCA Malaysia and CNBC Global CFO Council.

Badrul Hisyam bin Abu Bakar
 
Director
Badrul Hisyam bin Abu Bakar was appointed as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Asset Management Singapore on 1 April 2020. He also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Asset Management Group on 25 April 2018.

Badrul has over 23 years of experience in numerous asset management companies such as HLG Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Commerce Asset Fund Managers Sdn Bhd, Avenue Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Tune Money Capital Sdn Bhd and BIMB Investment Management Berhad. His experience covers both traditional and shariah/ethical mandates and he has worked on both sides of the business - retail and institutional. At CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd, he was heavily engaged in the restructuring and rehabilitating of portfolios. Prior to joining Maybank AM, he was the Chief Investment Officer of BIMB Investment Management Berhad.

He graduated from New York University, USA with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Finance and Economics in 1996.
