Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd (MIAM) has appointed Maybank Islamic Berhad's Shariah committee as the designated persons responsible for all Shariah matters pertaining to Islamic fund management business.

He is the current President of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS). He is also the Deputy Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission (SC) and a former member of the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia. Dr. Aznan serves as Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Board, Barclays Capital (DIFC, Dubai), a member of the Shariah Advisory Boards, ABSA Islamic Bank (South Africa), FNB Bank, Yasaar Limited, Khalij Islami, European International Islamic Bank (EIIB), Amanahraya Berhad, Amanah Raya Investment Bank Labuan, Employee Provident Fund and some other financial institutions and corporate bodies at both local and international level. He also serves as a Shariah consultant to Maybank Investment Bank. He is a registered Shariah advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic securities (Sukuk), SC as well as a Member of the National International Zakat Organisation (IZO) Coordination Committee, an advisory body established under the Prime Minister's Department, and a member of Shariah Supervisory Board of the Waqaf Foundation (Yayasan Waqaf), a corporate entity formed by the government to oversee the application of Waqaf in Malaysia.
Dr Aznan is also a prominent author in Islamic finance and to date, has produced a number of books and publications in journals and has presented several conference papers / proceedings at various international events / conferences.
Dr Aznan received his first degree in Shariah from the University of al-Azhar and a Master’s degree in Shariah from Cairo University with distinction (mumtaz). He then obtained his PhD from the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom.
He is an Associate Professor and the Deputy Director of the centre of Research and Publication at INCEIF. Dr. Lahsasna is also a registered Shariah advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic Securities (Sukuk) with the Securities Commission (SC) and serves as Shariah board member of Etiqa Takaful and the Shariah Advisory Council of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC). Dr Lahsasna sits on the panel of FAA Accreditation, appointed by the Finance Agency Accreditation Malaysia.
Dr. Lahsasna received his bachelor’s degree in Islamic law and Islamic jurisprudence from Algeria, and his Masters and PhD degrees in Islamic law and Islamic jurisprudence from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He obtained his certificate in Chartered Islamic Finance Professional from INCEIF.
She is currently the Director of Research at International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA). Prior to joining ISRA, she was a tutor at the Faculty of Judiciary and Law at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM). Since her involvement at ISRA, she has been actively producing various research papers and articles internationally on Islamic finance. Previously Dr Marjan was a Shariah Committee member of RHB Islamic Bank from 2011 to 2013.
Dr. Marjan obtained her first degree in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1998 and pursued her Masters and PhD at the same university, both in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh) field.
He is a researcher at ISRA and the Head of its Islamic Banking Unit. Prior to joining ISRA, he served the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for eight years as a lecturer at the Department of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences. He is a registered Shariah advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic Securities (Sukuk) with the Securities Commission Malaysia. He is also a Shariah Committee member of AGRO Bank, MNRB Retakaful and Takaful Ikhlas. He is actively involved in researches related to Islamic finance. Previously he was a Shariah advisor to the Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF).
He obtained his PhD and Masters in Shariah from the University of Malaya, specializing in Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh and Islamic Finance, and a Degree in the same field from IIUM. He has also studied Shariah in Jordan under prominent Jordanian Shariah scholars. Dr Mohamed Fairooz was conferred the Shariah Scholarship Award by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) for his PhD studies in Islamic finance.
His recent research relates to the practical applications of the concepts of istijrar, tawarruq, sukuk forms, the Islamic rules of exchanges applicable to sukuk, and global capital markets rules.
Ustaz Mohd Kamal completed tertiary education in National University of Singapore (NUS) and graduated from Science Faculty with B.Sc. in Zoology and Botany. He obtained Diploma in Arabic Language from Islamic University of Medina in 1993. Proceeded in Faculty of Hadith and graduated with BA (Hons.) in Hadith and Islamic Studies in 1997. In 2006, he graduated from Shari'a Advisory Training Program jointly conducted by Singapore Islamic Scholars & Religious Teachers Association (PERGAS) and International Institute of Islamic Finance (IIIF). In 2015, he obtained his Master of Science (Finance) in International University of Malaysia (IIUM).
He serves as a member at the Daily Management Board at National Shariah Council (DSN)-Majelis Ulama Indonesia, Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) at PT Adira Dinamika Multi Finance Tbk, PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk, PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia, BPH, Shariah Nasional Board and ISRA Council of Scholars. Additionally, he serves as a Shariah Expert at the SSB of PT BNP Paribas Investment Partners.
Prior to joining USIM, she served as Senior Assistant Director at Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM). She has written numerous research papers and articles on policies and fatwa in Muamalat and Islamic Finance during her years of involvement at JAKIM.
